What is Hex Hero?

Hex Hero is a series inspired by the FNM Hero series. As such, the concept will be rather similar. For those of you who are not so familiar with the FNM Hero series, here is a summary for you.

Concept: The Hex Hero is a new player with no cards, no friends, and a limited budget. He however, has a goal. To accomplish what is thought to be the holy grail of TCG: Going Infinite.

Going Infinite?

Going infinite means that apart from your initial investment, you will never need to spend any real money on playing the game again. But since this series can’t last forever, going infinite will have to be a “win-condition” instead.

Win-Condition: To have built a competitive deck AND a bankroll of the initial investment.

Rules and Guidelines

Here are some rules and guidelines to ensure the fairness of this challenge.

  1. The budget of this challenge will be set at $50. This budget will be for deck building as well as entry fees.
  2. Tournament winnings will go directly back into the budget. As such, to ensure fairness, booster pack will not be opened but have a fixed value of $1.50 instead, regardless of current market condition.
  3. I will not be playing the market (buy low, sell high) at all. If i were to buy a card, it will be because i need it. Cards can only be sold at an acceptable market rate.
  4. I cannot borrow cards or accept donations.

The fundamental challenge is to prove that it is possible to play and enjoy the game without burning a hole in your pocket. As such, funding will come primarily from playing the game (winning tournaments).

Timeline

The challenge will be deemed to be over when I’ve accomplish the win-condition or run out of money to join tournaments.
